Tennessee Baseball Reaches NCAA Tournament Super Regional After Epic Comeback

Vols Rally For Six Runs in Ninth Inning

Knoxville, Tenn. –

A six-run ninth inning capped an incredible comeback victory for top-ranked Tennessee in Sunday's regional final. The Vols rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Southern Miss 12-3 and advance to a NCAA Tournament Super Regional.

Tennessee will face No. 8 seed LSU in the Super Regional, which will be held at LSU's Alex Box Stadium. The best-of-three series will begin on Friday night.

The Vols trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but they rallied for six runs on four hits and two walks. Luc Lipcius drove in two runs with a double, and Connor Pavolony added a two-run single.

Jake Rucker (4-0) picked up the win in relief for Tennessee. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and no runs. Camden Sewell started the game and pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.

Tennessee is now 47-17 on the season. Southern Miss finished the season with a 38-23 record.
