Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam sets sail

Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam is the fourth in a long line of ships to set sail from the Port of Rotterdam. The ship is scheduled to make its maiden voyage to the Caribbean on October 19th. The Nieuw Amsterdam is a state-of-the-art ship with a capacity of over 2,100 passengers. The ship features a variety of amenities, including a casino, a spa, and a fitness center. The Nieuw Amsterdam is also the first Holland America ship to feature a dedicated vegetarian restaurant.

Cruise lines face vegetarian food issue

Some cruise lines are facing a backlash from vegetarian passengers over the lack of vegetarian food options. A recent survey by the Vegetarian Resource Group found that only 12% of cruise lines offer a dedicated vegetarian menu. The survey also found that many cruise lines do not offer vegetarian options at all. This has led to some vegetarian passengers feeling left out and unable to enjoy their cruise experience. Cruise lines are now starting to take notice of the demand for vegetarian food options. Several cruise lines have recently added vegetarian menus to their ships, and others are planning to do so in the future.

Cruise line accessibility issues

Cruise lines are also facing criticism for their lack of accessibility for disabled passengers. A recent study by the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund found that only 15% of cruise ships are fully accessible to disabled passengers. The study also found that many cruise lines do not provide adequate accommodations for disabled passengers, such as accessible cabins and dining areas. This has led to some disabled passengers feeling excluded from the cruise experience. Cruise lines are now starting to address the need for accessibility for disabled passengers. Several cruise lines have recently added accessible cabins and dining areas to their ships, and others are planning to do so in the future.
